History of ŞTS Science High School
ŞTS Science High School, located in Balıkesir, Türkiye, opened in the city center in 1996 with 96 pupils as Balıkesir Ziraat Bank Science High School. The first building served until 2016. After the coup attempt on the 15th of July, 2016, it moved to the new campus in İbirler and the name of the school was changed into Şehit (Martyr) Turgut Solak (the police officer died during the coup attempt) Science High School. It currently continues its education in this campus with 548 pupils, 30 teachers, 4 managers, 2 officials, 2 employees and 1 technician.
The school has 24 classrooms, Physics, Chemistry and Biology labs, 2 Robotic Coding classes, Art Studio, Music, History and Geography classes. The campus hosts a variety of sports facilities with its indoor sports hall, astroturf/football field carpet, volleyball and basketball courts besides a conference hall for cultural activities, a library and a chess room.
